Mare explores how change accumulates beyond our perception. The ocean’s vastness makes individual traces of our actions seem insignificant. Yet they accumulate and interact, gradually altering what appears unchanged.
The series considers how our everyday actions can contribute to the pollution and destruction of the sea. It examines the distance between a process and our awareness of it: we recognise change at its thresholds, when a balance tips, while the process itself escapes our attention—even as it unfolds before our eyes.
